Sieffert, Louis Eugene - Born in 1842 in Paris ( Rue Oberkampf 18, Paris ), Louis Sieffert was an excellent figure painter known for his refined stippling style of painting, also painted in the pate-sur-pate technique. Sieffert served as director of painters for the A. Schlossmacher studio, in Paris from 1873~1874. Sieffert was trained at Sevres where he is listed as a figure painter from 1881~1898 and is credited with famous porcelain paintings for a number of Paris studios. He was awarded a medal at the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873. Godden places Sieffert at the Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co. in England from 1887~later. This would seem to be in conflict with the Sevres dates. ( Neuwirth 1977, Band II, 259~260; Godden 1961, 198; Wilkinson n.d., n.p. )
